Hi, Everyone…and Welcome to A New Year!
Let’s see. It’s been 19 days since you made your new year’s resolutions for the upcoming year. Those 10 lbs. you said you were going to lose: someone spotted you coming out of Burger King the other day. That 40-minute walk you were going to take 3x a week: American Idol and 24 are back on the tube, and the couch is much warmer. The once-a-day-be kind-to-another-human-being went down the drain when you found yourself counting the items the person in front of you had on the Shop-Rite express line.
And that promise NOT to root for the Jets….well, we heard you shouting during this past Sunday’s playoff game all the way over here! So much for resolutions; there’s always next year when you can start all over again.
With our wonderful, festive dinner at Portobello’s and the holidays behind us, we move on to our first 20l0 meeting, which will be held next Wednesday,27 January commencing @ 7:45. The program for the evening will be ODDITIES IN GLASS (and I guess china, too), so scour your house for items that are either different or unusual. Any questions? Call Ken. We need volunteers for refreshments, so please call either Lori or Gail and see if they need additional members. Everyone should volunteer at least once a year. Yes, we know some people bring in goodies more often than that because they are very generous and/or realize that the size of the club sometimes means doubling up. Each of us enjoys munching, so we all have to chip in!
New membership lists will be available @ next week’s meeting; this year I have added a new item: what each of us collects (if you filled in that space!) If you do not attend the meetings on a regular basis, I will mail them to you in the next few weeks.
In case of inclement weather and the cancellation of a winter meeting, an e-mail will go out to all; people who do not have e-mail will get a phone call. If unsure, don’t hesitate to call Ken since he makes the final decision.
Although we have all been enjoying this “January Thaw”, we Jerseyans know it won’t last! However, have faith! Spring is already thinking about making an entrance, Ground Hog’s Day is only two weeks away, and Yankee pitchers and catchers report to spring training in less than 35 days!
See you soon,
JUNE
